GOG sells fully licensed games for all platforms, including classic DOS games. The DOS games are usually packaged for DOSBox, but you can extract these and play them under FreeDOS like any DOS game.
Play classic games
You can play your favorite DOS games on FreeDOS. Note that you may need to use a specific memory manager for your game to work. This was common on DOS in the 1980s and 1990s, some games needed EMS and some needed XMS.

DOS was and is a simple operating system. Unlike modern operating systems, DOS does not provide a "hardware abstraction layer." Instead, DOS games accessed sound and video hardware directly. To run DOS games on modern PC hardware, you may need one of these drivers:
